Goldstein Lewin & Co. walked for a cause this Saturday in the American Heart Association’s Start! Heart Walk
More than 60 Goldstein Lewin & Co. employees, family members and friends of Goldstein Lewin & Co. walked in the 5K run held on FAU campus. The dedicated walkers braved the impending rain to raise more than $1,000 for the American Heart Association. This year’s walk was especially meaningful to the group, because they lost two co-workers to heart disease this past year. The team included adults, children, dogs and babies all wearing shirts printed with a heart circling the letters ART in “He(ART) Walk.” Below it read: “In memory of Art Kobrin.” Art Kobrin was a beloved co-worker, mentor and friend who sadly suffered a fatal heart attack just five months before the event. Art Kobrin’s wife, Cheryl Kobrin, and family members joined the walkers in a courageous effort to raise money to fight heart disease.
Tragically, a week before the walk, another Goldstein Lewin & Co. co-worker, Michael Munson, suffered a fatal heart attack. Michael Munson was a giving person who was passionate about his family, about his work and everything he did. His family requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association to honor his memory.
Goldstein Lewin walkers were now walking for two fallen colleagues. They wore red ribbons to honor Michael Munson and wrote his name on their shirts next to Art Kobrin’s name. Their hearts filled with loss, Goldstein Lewin employees gave it their all to help fight heart disease and honor two very special men.
As the American Heart Association’s signature fund-raising event, the Start! Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family environment. This year more than 1 million walkers will participate in some 500 events, raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers — heart disease and stroke.
